We have two special events coming up to close out the dance year with a flourish, and I want to make sure everyone knows about them.
First, our November dance just happens to fall on Veteran’s Day. I’m excited about this because it give us an opportunity to honor our veterans and experience a different type of dance than usual. During intermission we’ll be playing origional recordings of Glenn Miller’s Big Band swing. What can you do to prepare for this dance? Bring a photo of any relative who served, and we’ll display them on a table. Invite a friend or relative who has served. And brush up on your swing! Suggested donation of $3-$5 per person.
Our December event is the crowning event of our two years as a group. We’ve rented a real ballroom at the Omaha Botanical Gardens, and our very own Band will be there to make the evening memorable. A full cast of costumed characters will be present, representing various members of Charles Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol.” At the end of the evening after three hours of dancing and a show by the Old Dominion Dance Performers, we’ll end the evening with the dance mentioned by Dickens in his classic work: the Roger de Coverly. Online Registration is required to attend, so register today to assure your ticket to the one and only (in the midwest, anyway) Fezziwig Ball. Cost to attend is $7 per person.
