Performance Group, Renaissance Faire 2013.

Despite the chill weather we enjoyed dancing favorites like the Merry Merry Milkmaids, Puck’s Deceit, Faine I would, and the good old Scottish dances. We’ll be out again this Saturday dancing at the Midlands Ren Faire: 11:30am, 2pm, and 4pm.

OldDD Performance Group 2013

The OldDD Performance Group opened up the spring season and third year running with a costumed event at the Dodge House. The spring session for performance group runs from now until early June, with performances at the Midlands Renaissance Faire and Fort Atkinson SHP.

Performance group is taking applications for summer memberships, with a specific need of ladies! If you’re interested in joining performance group, contact Emily at swing@dominiondance.com

April Dancing

I am very much looking forward to our Spring Formal. Last April we danced at this historic barn, which is no longer available due to new fire code regulations. This year we celebrate the blessing of our new permanent home at St. Marks’ Lutheran School with drinks, drawings, and live music.

So pull out your odd bits and bobs and come in costume! It doesn’t have to be historical; it can be movie based, ethnic, or just plain fun. As long as you’re covered, we’re happy.

During intermission we’ll have a drawing for Fain Music’s “Pride and Prejudice Vol. 3,” a CD of dance tunes that includes Dressed Ship, Mr. Isaac’s Maggot, and Row Well ye Mariners.

February Dance and COSTUME EXCHANGE

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have three whole boxes full of lightly used costumes that I’d like to get rid of. What with several dress-up events a year, I’m just guessing that some of our dance regulars are the same. So, in conjunction with our monthly informal dance on Feb. 9th, we are also hosting a COSTUME EXCHANGE.

Here’s the deal:

On Feb. 9th you may bring to the dance any used costume or costume accessory, historical or otherwise, hand-made or store-bought. Be sure to label your item with your name to help avoid confusion.

Costumes can be:

Sold for $10 or less
Given away for free
Exchanged for another item with the approval of both owners

So bring your unwanted costumes and costume wanting friends for a night of thrifty dancing fun! Any questions, email Emily: swing@dominiondance.com

Blue January Dance

The Fezziwig Ball has come and gone, and we’re looking forward to a new year of dancing. The January dance is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 12th, at St. Mark’s Lutheran School Gym(1821 North 90th Street). Doors open at 6:30 and dancing starts promptly at 7pm.

Fezziwig Ball: The Fiddler
